Weight management means achieving and maintaining a healthy body weight. Your body weight can affect your health in many ways. Most people tend to be overweight, rather than underweight. Being overweight can increase your risk of developing high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol, diabetes and heart disease. Being a healthy weight reduces your risk of these problems. It can make you feel healthier and better about yourself. How Do I Know if I am Overweight?To find out if you are overweight, or obese, a formula is used to find out your weight compared to your height. This is called the Body Mass Indicator (BMI). There is a calculater at the bottom of this page that can be used to find your BMI. The results will indicate whether you are underweight, normal, overweight or obese. It might be worth discussing your results with a doctor, pharmacist or dietician.
